Sierra Hills Swim & Racquet Club Homes were built by the Deane Brothers in 1966. Deane Brothers had envisioned to build over six hundred homes that would make up the Sierra Hills Community. The homes were state of the art, Golden Medallion Award homes. The houses had innovative garden kitchens that incorporated indoor & outdoor living. Due to the economy during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, Deane Brothers decided to stop building houses at 224 single family units. There is a total of 192 houses that belong to Sierra Hills Swim and Racquet Club membership. Deanne Brothers failed to build the required 620 houses which would have supported Sierra Hills by paying the additional houses monthly membership dues. Because the builders did not build the additional houses, it was decided in the mid-Seventies, to allow only the original homeowners, a one-time vote, to opt out of the association. That is why there are 192 houses. The houses (32) that opted out were not allowed to rejoin without paying passed membership dues. In September of 2011, the resident members of Sierra Hills Swim & Racquet Club voted to allow the houses that originally opted out of the association the opportunity to join the membership again. The resident members voted to change the by-laws and CC &R ‘s to allow the 32 non-resident member houses to rejoin Sierra Hills. It was decided, people who buy the non-resident house, should pay half of the legal fees for the paperwork that is needed to be done to rejoin the association. Sierra Hills Swim & Racquet Club would pay the remainder of the fees. This cost is minimal.
By 1979 the homeowners decided to create the associate membership. This was decided to help offset the cost of membership for resident members. This associate membership allowed friends, and families, who do not live in a Sierra Hills home to become members. By doing so, this allowed others to join in the fun of our summer-time swim with use of our pool, tennis, pickleball, play yard, and club house. With the changes on how to re-instate membership to a non-resident house, and with the creation of the associate membership, the resident members benefits with lower monthly dues. We hope our community as a whole will benefit the use of our facility!
The associate membership has an initiation fee of $150.00, and monthly membership dues of $40.00 per month. If you live in a non-member house please call our office to see how you can become a resident member again!
